LOOK!!! We Choose the Wood, Neck, Bridge, & PickUps for Sound! I Carve
the Body in Exquisite Detail with a Matching HeadStock Carved on Both
Sides! The Brilliant FingerBoard Inlays Complete the Composition going
from the HeadStock & Truss Rod Cover thru the FingerBoard to the
Knobs!!!
Everything
is Carved & Inlaid to the Finest Detail to Show Off Brilliantly Under
Stage or SunLight!!! As I Make these I Shine Light & Look with
Telescope to See what they look like on Stage! They have a Brilliant Stage
Presence—almost like having another Musician with you on Stage!!! The
Ones with Faces Look like They’re Alive & Performing With YOU!!! An
Instrument—as Powerful--& as Well Built--as YOU!!!
I
have Carved BODIES, some Front & Back-- from Blue Mahoe to Bird’s
Eye Maple, Bubinga to Bocote—I Love them ALL Very Much & Feel
Terrible for Killing Any Tree!!! But the Few Trees I Kill I Make into
Beautiful Instruments for You to Sing Against People Like Me Killing
Trees!!! If You want to Know what I Think of Sound—Please Read ‘How Do

I am
Violin Maker & I Know SOUND & to me they ALL Sound Incredibly
Beautiful—like STAINER & STRADIVARI!!! VERY Simply & Generally
Speaking—the Thinner you Carve a Piece of Wood the Lower the Note goes
& the Harder the Brighter the Sound!!! Each Wood has it’s Own
Beautiful Sound—What Sound do You Want??? I am Glad to make You the
Instrument of Your Dreams from the Wooden’ to the Waxin’!!!
My
NECKS I Make usually in 2 or 3 Pieces from Maple or Mahogany! I started
with Neck thru Body which I like Very much!!! Then I made Mortised like a
Violin & Cut away from behind like a Neck Thru! For Years I said I
would NEVER make a "Screw-On" Neck I was mistakenly calling
"Bolt-On" !!! A Friend of mine showed me how He Makes Real
Bolt-On & I like Very Much for a couple of Reasons: The BOLTS are BIG
with FAT HEADS & Brass Inserts & are VERY STRONG!!! You can take
apart to work on if you want! It makes a Very Strong Clean Joint for
Sound!!! It Makes a Very Solid Strong Neck & I will be Making More!!!
I Made Soaring Eagle 2 & Pair
of Eagles Bass Bolt On!!! I Carve them to have the Feel between a Strat & a Paul—42mm at the
Nut--if you like a Thinner or Fatter Neck let me Know & I Carve Neck
to FIT Your Hand!!!
I
make my own TRUSS RODS that are Bigger & Stronger than most! I Make
& Inlay Truss Rod Covers—to become Part of the Composition!!!
HEADSTOCKS
are Carved Both Sides to Match the BODY of the Instrument!!! Sometimes I OverLay a
"FacePlate"
of Matching Woods! Machines
are Mounted &
Blended & Colour Matched into the Composition!!!
I Carve & Inlay Both Sides! The Carvings
& Inlays on the HeadStock, Truss Rod Cover, FingerBoard & Knobs
Link Together the Composition!!!
FINGERBOARDS—I
have Used Many Woods with Colour & Composition of the Instrument in
Mind—if you like the Sound of a Wood for FingerBoard I am Glad to Use!!!
Look at the Beautiful BOCOTE on the Pair of Eagles Fretless Five String
Bass!!! The INLAY is Very Important to the Composition & Completes the
Thought & Links the Body to the HeadStock with a Truss Rod Cover
Inlay!!! I like to Inlay the Whole FingerBoard with Something Special at
the Positions!!! Dragon Rose is RoseVine
with Leaves at Positions, MerMaid is Coral Reef with Sea
Creatures, Lightening Dragon is
Lightening Bolts with Bursts of Flame!!! I usually use
Abalone or Mother of Pearl--NEVER "plastic" INLAY--NEVER!!!—I
have Diamond Tipped Saw & I cut up My Own Shell & I Choose Colours
for the Composition of the Instrument!!!
INLAYS—are
Very Important to the Composition!!! Their Brilliance Links the Body thru
the FingerBoard to the HeadStock!!! Instruments with FACES have Inlaid
EYES that LOOK Back at You Like They are ALIVE!!! Can You SEE into the EYE
of the MAKER??? I Make the EYES from 2 or 3 Stones Inlaid into each other!
I live 2 miles from a Great Rock Shop that has Any Shell or Stone I Want
& I have Diamond Saw & cut up My Own Shell to Pick & Choose
Colours!!! What would You Like to INLAY???

KNOBS
& TOGGLE SWITCH are Wood Inlaid with Abalone, usually White for Volume
& Coloured for Tone—again to become Part of the Composition!!!
MACHINES--I
use Colours to Blend with the Composition—Gold Grover's on American
Ecolution’s Golden Body—Chrome Grover's on Freedom Rider MotorCycle—Gold
Machines on the Blue Eagles!!! I usually use Grover's, Schaller's or Sperzls—or
WhatEver You Like!!!
BRIDGES--When
I Made my First Guitar—the Dragon Rose, I Didn’t Like Bridges I could
buy so I Hand--Made the Dragon’s!!! I wanted a Bridge I could Adjust
Each String Individually for Height & Intonation & take the
Strings off from the TailPiece!!! Since then I’ve made a few
Improvements & I’m very Pleased with them!!! They will Replace Most
Standard Bridges--all you need is a Center Line & a Screwdriver! Their
Height Adjustment is 12-18mm—same as Strat or Paul Bridge! They’re
Massive Brass & Sound Great!!! They Ring to an "EEE" When
you Ring Them!!! See them at the ‘Bridge’ Gallery!
There
are Many Bridges—if you have a Bridge you like I’m Glad to Use!!!
PICK-UPS
I have used Mostly Bartolini & Seymour Duncan because they’re Clean
& Powerful & You can Wire them many Ways!!! The DRAGON has a Pair
of Bartolini’s Wired with Series & Parallel Switches! I have
sometimes used PickUps for their Colour Compositionally—Gold PAF’s in
the Packer Backer & American Ecolution—Black & Silver Seymour's in Freedom Rider look like the "Motor" of the Cycle & are
Painted in the MerMaid!!! What Ever Pick-Ups or Special Wiring You Like I
am Glad to DO!!!
I
like to Make PICK-UP RINGS of the same Wood as the Body!!!
BACKPLATES
are Wood to Match the Back!!!
I use
STRAP BUTTONS to Colour Match the Composition—Gold on Packer Backer
& American Ecolution, Chrome on Freedom Rider!!! Whatever You Like!!!
FINISHES
& PAINTS: On Electrics I’ve used mostly TUNG OIL!!! It’s Tough,
Strong & Clear—if you scratch it you can just Rub some on & it’s
like New again!!! I Make Instruments to be PLAYED & if they're PLAYED
they will Wear like All of Us so you may as well be able to Fix the Wear
YourSelf!!! Some Players, like GLOWAXE--NEVER
let their Instruments Scratch!!! I like to use something Clear to show off the Beautiful
Woods!!! I started to Paint to Accent Features that were hard to Discern
in some of the Dark Woods! MerMaid Harpist is Carved in Blue Mahoe, a
Dark, Greenish to Purple Blue Wood! I Painted MerMaid in Glowing Iridescent
Colours to Show off Her Flowing Hair &
Face & Scaly Fish-Tailed Body! I Painted Freedom Rider like MotorCycle
& the Packer Backer is Tung Oil with Yellow Oil Colours!!! The Finish
really depends on How You want to Finish the Composition!!!
VIOLIN
VARNISH—Like Most of US--I have Cooked Up Varnishes for Years &
Tried Many Things--My Early Violins are Spirit I Cooked Up & I've
Made the Madder Lake & GROUND!!! & tried Anilines once or
twice--& I use PROPOLIS in me TEA--if you have SORE THROAT Make
PURE PROPOLIS TEA with Lots of HONEY!!!

Honey to WORK!!! Now I am Using the OIL VARNISHES--I
Made BEARLIOZ CELLO a GOLDEN HONEY BROWN--
& when "ANTIQUING" was the "RAGE" at the

PURPOSE"--the VIOLA Looks Especially OLDE!!!
